memories
I just saw the YS job advertised in The War Cry. (But heard about it first online -- from Mary Parks! You go, girl!)
I'm filled with memories of ten and a half years ago. (Was it really so long ago??!!) There was a full-page ad in The War Cry for someone to begin work on the National Book Publishing Plan.
Tim was already working free-lance for National Pubs, writing music reviews for YS (then called Young Salvationist, of course!). I practially had to beg him to ask Lisa, the YS editor at the time, about it.
Tim got the job, and a month and a half later, we had moved to Alexandria, Virginia! I think about one year afterwards, Lisa's husband went to Training (and she accompanied him as a cadet-spouse), and Tim stepped into his dream job as editor of Young Salvationist magazine!
In that capacity, he went to WYI in 1999, where we spent a week under the leadership of Stephen Court and Danielle Strickland. Which caused us to go to Training ourselves in 2000!
Will you please pray that NHQ will hear God's voice and make the right decision in who to hire for this position? Please pray that those who should apply will be brave enough to take the step!
And pray that my heart won't grieve over dreams lost (even though given up willingly!), but will instead rejoice over unexpected gifts. And of course -- dreams come true (living overseas was my dream since I was a little girl!).
PS 20:4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
PS 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
PS 37:5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
PS 37:6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
PS 37:7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him....
We've got our Corps Camp (various people from our congregation, from toddlers to pensioners with teenagers in between!) this coming week, then a week back home, then Regional Music Camp, which we are mainly responsible for. We needs lots and lots of prayer coverage!
Thank you, friends.
Evelyn

Sorry I missed your birthday! It looks like you had a great time, with lots of flowers, of course! I'll miss those.
