New England Boiled Dinner

It is St. Patrick's Day, and I've got a hankering for Boiled Dinner!

I wish I could go to Sportsman's (closed now, I realize!) and get some!

Finland

Monday, March 06, 2006

We had a great time at Peter's second birthday party. When the cake came out, he got very excited and knew it was his job to blow out the candles. He didn't have enough puff, though, so mama had to give him a hand. Here is Peter trying to blow out the candles while Karl-
Gustav looks on.

Peter loves animals. One of the gifts he received for his birthday was a bag of plastic jungle animals, which he uses to attack each other and to pretend to frighten us with their growls.

In all of his two years, Peter has never had a haircut. We kept discussing when we might do it, but really loved the curls and the way it looked, so we kept putting it off. But now that he is two, we have finally decided to bite the bullet and cut his hair before we go to Finland. This is Peter yesterday (Sunday) showing his Sampson-like locks.

Here's another before picture of Peter. We will post the after pictures as soon as we can. Posted by Picasa

"Remember to eat Maine potatoes!"

"So how cool was it to see Homer Simpson flash a "Remember to eat Maine potatoes" tattoo on a recent episode of the long-running cartoon series? Better yet, this was honest homage: The Maine Potato Board didn't know about it until after the program ran."

I would if I could, I honestly always looked for them (not those ones from Idaho!). It's so silly that I practically feel like crying right now because I can't eat Maine potatoes!

We eat a LOT of potatoes here; it's a huge part of the Estonian diet. I love them. And they're good, of course. But they are different -- they're more yellow than white.

But there's nothing like the food of home.

Lately I've been missing Oreos and Fluff.

P.S. That gives me an idea for my next tattoo!!

There are more homeschooled children in America than there are people (men, women, children of all ages!) in the whole country of Estonia.

I really miss my comrades in the homeschooling community!

Today is Peter's Birthday!

Peter Jonah Clark was born two years ago today, March 4th!

So we'll have a birthday party for him, of course, and we've invited all his little friends:
Isaac
Jaan
Lauri
Markus
Tarvi

Karl-Gustav and Maret slept over last night to be sure not to miss the festivities!
