Fat Fighters

Okay, tomorrow we start our diet(s)! It's the first day of the week (American calendar), first day of the month, and first day of the second half of 2007!

My personal goal is to lose 25 pounds before we go to America the end of October. Tim and I also need to get our cholesterol down by following a low-fat diet.

Captain Stephen Court has a group of people trying to get back to their wedding weights. There is NO WAY I can do that! I would be thrilled if I could fit into my commissioning uniform, never mind my wedding dress (a heck of a lot more practical, too!).

So, let's encourage each other! Anybody else up for this? And anyone else following a low-fat diet for cholesterol reasons?

"Look, I started a small wedding weight gang of those interested in getting back to their wedding weight. I've met a lot of people who, like me, could lose some weight. We don't like to talk about it too much. But accountability might help. Join the WWG and pick a date to aim for. Tell a couple of friends and maybe your spouse, and then start shedding the pounds (share this blog with prospective gang members). Do it - it will help credibility, health, finances, power..."

HOME!

We're home! We arrived in Tallinn at 6:00 Friday night, everyone was asleep in bed by 9:30, and we didn't get up completely until 2:30 this afternoon! (We were awake for a few hours in the middle of the night though.) That is called being exhausted!Tonight at 6:00 is our Jaanituli (fire for St. John's Day, Midsummer, we have white nights here and this is an important Estonian holiday). We'll try to stay up all night! Tomorrow is the farewell for our Regional Commanders.I just wanted to let you all know that we arrived safe and sound, although very tired! We also saw Bram Bailey at the airport in Frankfurt, so that was a real treat for us (thank you, God!).Our translator, Andrus, has everything well in hand. He was the only one to greet us at the airport, but we were grateful to see him and for his extra help with luggage (Tim had to take a cab home to pick up our van to get our stuff!).Please keep praying for us! We have a week of jet lag ahead and need to get ready for summer camps, etc. Thank you!

1. Welcome to the family
We're glad that you have come
to share your life with us
As we grow in love and may we always be to you
What God would have us be a family always there
To be strong and to lean on
2. May we learn to love each other
more with each new day
May words of love be on our lips in ev'rything we say
May the Spirit melt our hearts
and teach us how to pray
That we might be a true family

Psalm 100:3Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Psalm 119:176I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands.
Isaiah 40:11He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.
Matthew 9:36When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Matthew 18:12-13"What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off.
John 10:11"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
John 10:14"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—
John 10:27My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
1 Peter 2:25For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

one more week

One week from today, we leave America.

We're staying at the Exit 5 motel in Saco.

Our cell phone # is 914-329-6948.

This Sunday, 17 June, is the Baby Dedication for Sashenka Gudkov, at the Portland Corps at 11:00. We'll go out to eat somewhere after that (any suggestions)? It's also Fathers' Day and exactly one month before my 40th birthday! :-)
