Elizabeth's 13th Birthday

For Elizabeth's 13th birthday, she had a 3-part party: With friends at the corps, then a sleepover at our house, then another party with friends at the house.

At the corps, everyone stood to sing "Happy Birthday to You" and "Palu Õnne Sule" to her. There was also lots of food and cake.

Elizabeth received a box of chocolates from Lidia, one of our pensioners.

Our friend Olga (Anneli and Evelin's mom) also congratulated Elizabeth.

Kristi and Peter enjoyed the food.

Lidia sang a special song for Elizabeth, while Chelsea and others listened.

After she sang, she asked questions about the song and gave prizes of candy to those who got it right. Evelin was a lucky winner!

After the party was youth night, and the chapel was turned into a giant maze, which the participants had to do blindfolded with only verbal instructions from a guide.

The next morning was part three of the party. After the girls woke up and had a breakfast of french toast, they decorated piparkogid (gingerbread cookies).

Kristi supervised while Evelyn decorated the cake.

After a lunch of tacos and buritos, it was time to sing happy birthday to Elizabeth.

Let's hope all of her wishes came true!

First snow

Today we finally had our first snow!

Last night at about 10, Elizabeth came running into our room telling us to look out the window because it was snowing. We had to look right at the street light to actually see it, but snow was finally falling. This morning when we woke up, there was a light coating of snow on some parts of the ground. Peter was so excited, but he said, "It's not Christmas. Why is it snowing?"

Even though it was just a dusting, we are still excited about the snow. We have been waiting so long for it! This is the latest time that we have had our first snow since we have been here.

Everyone at the corps keeps saying that this will be a very snowy and cold winter this year, and that we will have a white Christmas. I hope so, but we'll keep you posted.
